Research Assistant
Anna is currently working at the Centre for Palliative Care on the Primary Malignant Glioma study. Funded by the Victorian Cancer Agency, this is a multi-site study aiming to develop a model of care for patients diagnosed with Glioma and their carers and families. Her role is to meet with patients, carers and bereaved carers to understand the supportive and palliative care needs of this group, and to co-facilitate focus groups with key health professionals caring for these people.
Anna’s research interests lie within the field of psycho-oncology, including developing supportive care and behavioural interventions for patients and families affected by cancer and other illnesses. Anna has completed a Master of Health Psychology at the University of Sydney, undertaking a thesis on predicting and explaining health behaviour changes within a health-promotion framework. She has worked on collaborative projects at the Sydney Cancer Centre, exploring the safety and efficacy of complementary therapies for cancer patients. Anna is also currently employed at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, coordinating a Randomised Controlled Trial of Cognitive Existential Couple Therapy for patients newly diagnosed with prostate cancer and their partners.
