Palliative Care Career Pathways for Social Workers

If you are a Social Worker and interested in a career in palliative care, the development opportunities are:

Social Workers seeking to work in palliative care or who care for palliative care patients at some time in the course of their usual work:

  • We recommend you undertake ‘Palliative Care:  The Essentials’. This two-day program has been designed for all health professionals who currently work, or are seeking to work, in palliative care. The program is an ideal orientation to palliative care. Further information can be obtained from the 2011 Specialist Certificate Courses brochure.
  • Program of Experience in the Palliative Approach (PEPA) provides a broad range of health care professionals with the opportunity to increase their experience, knowledge and skills in palliative care.  Further information can be found on The Palliative Care Victoria website.

Additional information on other courses in palliative care can be found at Caresearch.
