Purpose:

To document the patterns of care and the supportive and palliative care concerns of patients who die of PMG.

Method:

Mixed method approach which will include:

  1. Epidemiological study of hospital administrative databases to determine the patterns of care and of dying from PMG.
  2. Qualitative approach to explore through in-depth interviews with patients, carers, bereaved carers and health care professionals, the needs of patients with PMG.
  3. The development of a model of supportive and palliative care through the collation of these data from parts 1 & 2 and from feedback from an advisory group.
